JOHANNESBURG, December 13: Gibraltar’s Kaiane Aldorino is Miss World 2009 winner. Once again Indian stunner Puja failed to clinch the Miss World title. The two-hour global pageant show held in South Africa was won by Kaiane Aldorino of Gibraltar.

Dressed in white-lace evening gown, the statuesque was offered the most-sought-after crown. During the time of celebration she was showered by silver confetti onstage. When her name was announced, she clapped her hands to her mouth saying: “I have no words.”

When asked to describe her feelings, she said: “I am really happy.”

The crowd was rooting for her since she had won the swimsuit competition. The 23-year-old administrative clerk, who hails from the British territory on the tip of the Iberian Peninsula, entered the final with a lot of hope. She was a hot favorite of the crowd.

She beat seven other contestants in the final round of the show to lift the crown.

The second runner-up Tatum Keshwar of the host country was also very popular.

First runner-up was Miss Mexico, Perla Beltran Acosta.

Like other prestigious title winner in the past, Aldorino did not talk about her immediate future plan.

“I will try to do the best that I can now that I have opportunity and advantage,” she said.

The winner of Miss World 2009 is Miss Gibraltar Kaiane Aldorino; the young and beautiful Aldorino also won the swimsuit round in the pageant, which was held in Johannesburg. You could clearly see that she was a favorite of the judges, so did not come as a shock when she won.

When it came to the results being announced it was a nail biting time for the contestants. Miss Mexico Perla Beltran Acosta’s name was read out first, making her the first runner up, she was quickly followed by Miss South Africa, Tatum Keshwar. Her name being announced came as a shock to the other contestants as she was a favorite to win.

Priyanka Chopra, an ex-Miss World was one of the judges this year and was sad to see that Pooja Chopra failed to get to the final seven. The judge had hoped that India could win back the crown, so will have to wait for another year for a shot at that title.
