A trainer who was dragged into a pool by a killer whale died of “multiple traumatic injuries and drowning”.
Dawn Brancheau was giving a lecture in front of hundreds of people after a display at the SeaWorld amusement park in Florida when the whale, called Tillikum and known as Tilly, is said to have pulled her in.
“She was rubbing the killer whale’s head, and (it) grabbed her and pulled her in,” said Chuck Tompkins, Corporate Curator of Zoological Operations at SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment.
Media reports say Tilly grabbed the 40-year-old by the waist, thrashed her about and pulled her underwater at the Shamu Stadium in Orlando. continue reading…
